Learners will use digital drawing programs to develop mouse control skills and to begin to use the keyboard for "Hunt & Peck" keyboarding.
The teacher will read the book, The Berenstain Bears Go to School, to the class and facilitate a class discussion to identify the main parts of the book and the jobs of the author and illustrator.
Using KidPix3D learners will be able to design their own book cover to go along with this text to practice mouse control and explore design elements, drawing tools, and images/backgrounds. Learners will type the title of the book, the authors' names, and their own names as the new illustrator on their cover design to look for letters in order to start to familiarize themselves with the keyboard. Learners will review that while the letters shown on the keyboard keys are capital (uppercase) letters, they appear as lowercase letters on the screen. The teacher will introduce the SHIFT key and its function for students to capitalize the title of the book and the author's names, and their own name.
